MAY

POLLENATE & ALCHEMIZE
ENERGETIC FOCUS:
The expansion of May is the exhale that follows the inbreath of April. Beltane’s fire festivals and rituals of love, romance, beauty, art, sensuality, delight, pollination, expand us and propel us into an energetic wave that will crescendo and climax at the Summer Solstice in June. All of Nature is singing and summoning alchemists for creation to birth. The songs that are sung this month are what will lead to pollination & alchemy — necessary magick for flower to turn to fruit, for us to have food, bounty, enjoyment, and life!
YOUR FLOWERS TURN TO FRUIT TOO:
Recall the feeling of resting in the winter and of seeds awakening inside of you - new hopes, dreams, inspirations.
✦ Notice the element of surprise — the Great Mystery has a wonderful sense of humor and often what begins to sprout in us as new seeds, growth, inspiration, projects, new opportunities are beyond what our small, beloved human minds can imagine.
✦ Write these out in your journal, perhaps draw them as young flowering plants.
✦ And arrive in this precious moment of pollination. What flowers are blooming in the garden of YOU?
✦ Spend this month getting to know their songs, their longings, their vibration and their dream of fruit.
✦ Ride the waves of May to invoke the cross-pollination, collaboration, support, play, creativity, partnership, etc. that these flowers are calling out for so your blooms will turn to juicy fruit this summer and for many moons to come!

Beltane is the cross quarter holy day between The Spring Equinox and The Summer Solstice, the peak of the spring and the coming summer. Astrologically, the portal is at its peak when the Sun is at 15 degrees Taurus. In Celtic Tradition, Beltane arrived when the Hawthorne Tree would flower like a blooming, white maiden. This sacred tree stands at the gateway to the faery realm and the wood was used for marriage torches, the branches woven for wedding crowns. Lovers slept under the blooming trees on Mayday and the enactment of the Sacred Marriage, Hieros Gamos, is an embodied ritual of love that anchors the energies of bliss, creation, fertility, ecstasy into the Earth.
The Beltane Portal is across from the Samhain Portal on The Great Wheel of the Year. Both of these points are when the veils is considered thinnest. On Samhain, we connect to the spirits beyond the veil, our ancestors, and the energies of grief that feed the Holy. On Beltane, we engage our will and intention with how we connect to the spirits of the unborn, of creativity, fertility, inspiration and love. We may choose to ride the ecstatic currents of sacred sexuality, bringing this energy into the Earth, feeding the Holy and marrying the Cosmos and the Earth through our bodies and states of open hearted bliss. We may choose celibacy or dive into the transformative healing of rituals of self love, making love to ourselves, rituals of self worth, and rituals of the Sacred Marriage of the Inner God and Inner Goddess ~ an advanced path of spiritual self alchemy.
This is the time for you to flood your body, cells, soul and heart with as much bliss, love, self worth, and ecstasy as you can bare. The expansion of bliss and praise is the medicine and magick that this portal calls forth for you. Allow your Self and Heart to guide the rituals you create that are most nourishing, luxurious, celebratory and deliciously divine for you at this time. What follows are some of my favorite prayers, invocations, two druid rituals and poems that I hope will inspire you. Some of them are from pagan or druid lineages — these hold a collective hum of prayers that have been invoked at this time and will weave you into the greater web of these invocations. May they inspire you when invoking the God & The Goddess for your rituals.
“Let My worship be in the heart that rejoices, for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals.”

Beltane Chant
Doreen Valiente's Spring Rite from 1971
Friends that in the circle stand,
Heart to heart and hand to hand,
Bringing Beltane to the land,
Let the sleeper awake!
Let the flames of Beltane burn,
May the Old Ones now return,
May we of their magick learn,
Let the sleeper awake!
Let the streams and fields be pure,
Earth and sky be clean once more,
Love and laughter long endure,
Let the sleeper awake!
Forests spreading, peace returning,
Where the Pagan fires are burning,
Now the inner light discerning,
Let the sleeper awake!
May the Lady's touch again,
Rest upon the barren plain,
With the sunshine and the rain,
Let the sleeper awake!
Beltane magick here we sing,
Chant the rune and dance the ring,
Joy and blessing shall it bring,
Let the sleeper awake!

Make : Infusions With Fresh Herbs
As your gardens grow, I encourage you to begin making infusions with FRESH PLANTS!
The rule of thumb is 1/3 dried = 1 fresh. In other words, you need more fresh plants to get the same dose as they have water and are less "strong".
However, with bitter or stronger fresh herbs, you will of course use less than nourishing wild weeds.
Here are a couple wonderful fresh infusions:
Fresh Motherwort ~ So amazing! I clipped the tips and that encourages my Motherwort to continue growing, while I begin using her for medicine!
Fresh Anise Hyssop is INCREDIBLE! It tastes like licorice or the sweetest, most flowery bliss drink ever!
Fresh Lemon Balm, Lemon Verbena, Lavender, Blue Vervain, Nettles, Cleavers, Elderflower, Calendula, Poppy, Borage Leaf & Flower (delicious!!!), Fresh Pine Tree tips, Mint, Mullein....
“So come to the pond, or the river of your imagination, or the harbour of your longing, and put your lips to the world. And live your life.”
~ Mary Oliver ~
