TIME TO REST AND DREAM
Greetings dear ones & Happy New Year!
We have followed the regenerative currents of Fall’s release, shedding layers and businesses so we could be both light and deep enough to slip into the Winter Solstice Portal of renewal.
Now, on the other side of the longest night of the year, the sun is reborn, innocent and preciousness - a small light in a sea of oceanic womb winter darkness. We have begun to taste the energies of Winter, and with the holidays behind us, January gives us a precious opportunity to go deeper into the dark and fertile medicine of this season. This is our sacred and wild task now — to practice dissolving into the depth of restorative rest and dreamtime, connecting with the fertile darkness and void consciousness from which of all Gaia will be reborn in the Spring.
As we ride these regenerative currents together, we honor this season of Winter as a time to rest, to go into deeper states of consciousness with meditation, shamanic journeying, non doing, creative exploration, shadow work, reflection, magick, ritual, non linear practices, embodiment practices, connection with our inner crone.
We nourish ourselves with deep immune tonics, adaptogens, warming soups, roots, hearty grains, and healthy fats. We stay connected to our inner flame by sweating daily (sauna, movement, hot bath, etc.) and keeping our circulation, digestion & lymph moving (exercise, ginger, spices, adaptogenic chai, self massage, dry brushing, etc.) as well as reaching out for warmth from community, loved ones, and safe spaces if we feel isolated. That said - this is our time to make friends with loneliness and boredom! We learn to unravel from distractions and just be. The less you push yourself now, the more effortless the blossoming becoming will be.
January is a precious month of true Winter potential between the busy month of December and the awakening month of February which starts with Imbolc - the cross quarter holy day between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, heralding a magickal quickening of the solar flame. In February, we will already be feeling the seed of spring, and our attention and delight will be consumed with flaming the new spark of inspiration and creativity growing inside of us and all around.
January is our time to journey with herbs that sedate us, help us connect to the vibration of the hibernating animals and sleeping seeds, open our upper chakras and dreaming minds. We work with practices that prolong our attention span, connect us deeper to our whole selves, allow us to rest, recover and feel deeply held by the Earth. We soften into restorative trust of the Great Mystery while staying connected to self and open to unexplainable dreams and the presence of wonder. This month, we connect to the theme: Rest and Dream.
How does this land in your body, mind and heart?

A Ritual of Releasing the Year & Gathering the Wisdom Forth
I went into meditation and asked for a ritual for us. This is what I saw:
I saw each of us sitting in the center of a circle on the floor. Around you were larger pieces of paper, each one with a word on it that represents various elements of your life. These papers laid out around you were what made the circle.
Reflect on what areas of your life have been part of your journey this last year & are important to you.
These could be:
Health in Body
Mental Health
Self
Love/ Relationships/ Your marriage
Family/ Your child/ Your animal companion
Profession
Dreams/ goals/ aspirations
Finances
Community
Creativity
Growth & learning
Nature
Spirituality
Home/ physical possessions
... or a certain person in your life/ project/ or anything else that is a theme or important to you.
You sitting in the middle, there was a fire nearby too. Fire helps move energy and this can be a candle or a fire in the fireplace.
I see us diving into this ritual with good music, delicious elixirs, blessing herbs burning. You have created a magical and yummy atmosphere for yourself.
One by one, choose an aspect of your life to reflect on in this last year.
What notable events happened in your _____ this last year? What changed? What did you realize? What needs did you realize you have? What did you learn? What are you releasing? What medicine did you receive from this aspect of your life this year? Write down the main things that happened & what you are releasing.
Then, make a line at the bottom of the paper and below it write what you have learned, what medicine you received, what you are carrying forth into the new year.
When you have gone through all of these, copy into your journal what lesson/ what you are carrying forth from each category, into the new year. These you will keep, the rest you will burn.
Take some breaths. Zoom out. Look around you. Be in the center of your wheel. See what it feels like. Connect to your self and connect to the fire.
Then, take each piece of paper in the order you intuitively feel called to and read through it again. Read each one out loud to the fire, "In my (love life).. this happened this year.. Wow. This was intense. This is what I experienced. This is what I released. This is what is over and what I am done with. This is what I learned. This is what I realized about what I want. I release all the learnings and experiences. I give gratitude for what I have learned. I forgive myself and others. I release these experiences. I have learned these lessons, Spirit and do not need to learn them again. And it is done!
And then burn the paper either by throwing it into a fire or by lighting in with a candle and tossing it into a fire proof cooking dish like a pot or bowl (or your cauldron).
Then say, "As I release the old, space is made for renewal. I carry forth these realizations and desires of how I want this area of my life to feel." and speak anything you have gathered and are writing in your journal. This should not be too detailed or elaborate. We are still in the void consciousness of the wheel of the year. Imbolc (Feb 1) is a time when naturally the seeds that have been planted in us during this winter's dream begin to show themselves and speak to us.
For now, release, make peace and get friendly with the mystery.
After burning and releasing all of these papers and areas of your life, become present to the clear space that is all around you. Sit in the center of your circle with your journal with lessons learned, with gems you are carrying forth. Feel the difference. Breathe. Practice self care. Hold and love yourself. Hug yourself. Smile.
After a release, space has been made and it is important to wrap yourself in love, soothing, comfort and peace. Allow yourself to rest and connect to the energies of renewal. A floral bath is a wonderful way to end a fire ritual of release.

RECIPE: Cosmic Bliss Medicinal Chia Pudding
Chia seeds are a superfood loaded with nutrients, healthy fats, omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, antioxidants, and protein. They offer sustained energy, regulate blood sugar, and improve digestion.
Ingredients:
1 cup (240 ml) butterfly blue pea infusion
2 tablespoons (38 g) coconut cream
½ teaspoon (2.5 ml) vanilla extract
⅛ (80 g) maple syrup or coconut sugar
¼ cup (44 g) chia seeds
Blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries
To make:
Blend the butterfly blue pea infusion with the coconut cream, the vanilla, and the sweetener of your choice.
For a mousse-like dessert, add the chia seeds and blend. For a tapioca-like consistency, pour the liquid into a jar and mix the chia seeds.
Allow to sit for a few hours in the fridge, ideally overnight, stirring once if possible to prevent the seeds from clumping.
Cut the fruit into clear glass cups and alternate scooping layers of fruit and pudding on top. Service with a drizzle of maple syrup (optional).
